Fees for Services
This service assumes that you have a reasonable working knowledge of the Fair Deal Scheme and are looking for expert assistance to answer the more difficult aspects of the Scheme before you complete and submit the application yourself on behalf of the Applicant.
This service is ideal for people who are comfortable filling in financial forms and responding to any queries generated therefrom. Assistance is offered, among other things:
- to validate your calculations of what the Applicant's Contribution to Cost will be and how much the HSE will contribute (if anything).
- clarification as to what income or assets need to be included in their application.
- how does the 3 year rule apply to farms and family businesses?
- what % of principal residence rental income is the applicant allowed to retain.
- what happens if the applicant has loaned or gifted monies to my children in the past 5 years?
- what happens if people are considering selling the principal residence (family home) or renting it out?
- will a reassessment apply if the family home is sold and if so how will it apply?
- what happens in cases where people's financial circumstances have changed and there needs to be further engagement with the HSE.
This service is provided primarily by email and phone.
Certain short form Consultancy sessions are available as reduced rates

DIY Consultancy Service

Our full service offering starts with an initial consultation which will give the Applicant a broad insight into the financial operation of, and the application process for, the Fair Deal scheme. This is the service most widely used by our clients.
Essentially we guide you through the process in essence 'holding your hand'' throughout;
- we are available by email or on the phone for as many queries as you have;
- we complete a detailed financial review of ALL the options available;
- we do the ALL the Fair Deal financial calculations for you;
- we fill in ALL the Application forms for you to sign. This includes the Financial Assessment Form (and if applicable the Nursing Home Loan Application).;
- we draft and submit ALL the necessary correspondence;
- we give you a series of useful tips and advice to assist you in getting the application promptly through the process.
In addition we provide further advice and tips in relation to reviewing and obtaining a suitable place in a nursing home for the applicant.

FULL SERVICE -
Completion & SUBMISSION of Fair Deal Application

We offer a Short Form consultancy service which is basically a Q&A (up to 2 hours) about the Fair Deal Scheme and how it works.
During your discussion with us we should be able to assess whether the Fair Deal Scheme will work for the proposed applicant and their family.
This consultancy offers ranging advice on all aspects of the Fair Deal Scheme including, for example, the following:
- what income is included in the financial assessment?
- what assets are included in the financial assessment?
- what happens to rental income if the principal residence (family home) is rented?
- what happens if the family home is sold?
- do I get a deduction for an existing mortgage on the family home?
- how are loans/gifts to family members over the past 5 years treated within the scheme?
- what are the implications for business owners and/or farmers of an application for the Fair Deal Scheme?
- what is the Nursing Home Loan and how does it work?
- what documents are required to be submitted with the application?
- cases where families decide to sell their property where said property was initially used as an asset to obtain the Nursing Home Loan... what happens then
- cases where there are marital break-ups pre needing a nursing home.
